Iria del Bosque and Borja Bernardez make up MIL111, a duo that has developed on the vertical garden of CaixaForum Nexos, an audiovisual work between design and art that delves into the scientific legacy of Nobel laureate Santiago Ramon y Cajal.

The Aragonese scientist’s legacy continues to transcend today in a multidisciplinary manner. For this reason, the former Ministry of Science and Innovation, now the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, designated the years between 2022 and 2024 as the Cajal Triennium, to commemorate his figure not only as a scientist, but also as an intellectual, artist, illustrator, photographer, humanist, writer, physician, professor, inventor and, ultimately, as a person ahead of his time.

One of the activities of this celebration is the Nexos project, funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, which explores how his pioneering contributions in the field of neuroscience and histology have left an enduring mark on various scientific fields such as computing, astrophysics and quantum physics, thus transcending the traditional boundaries of scientific research. These fields have inspired MIL111 to develop a visual reflection with which they invite viewers to an experience in three acts that traverses the diverse neural networks of our time, which they describe as: biological, artificial and cosmic.

The creators present this video mapping installation with the central theme of neuroscience. An impactful installation in a public outdoor space such as the Vertical Garden, which will directly engage passersby. Through the use of light, space and sound, this audiovisual experience seeks to highlight the interconnection between the human mind and the universe, challenging conventional perceptions and offering a new perspective on the transcendental influence of Ramon y Cajal on contemporary science.
